    urpose:
    The document provides guidance for handling snake sightings and preventing risks during the snake season, particularly around the Aboriginal Gathering Place and Quarry Hills.

    Key Points:
    1. Prevention and Protection:
    • Eliminate food sources (e.g., mice and rats) to discourage snakes.
    • Remove rubbish and materials that can offer shelter.
    • Raise awareness about increased snake risks during the season.
    • Use personal protective equipment (gloves, long sleeves, pants, safety footwear).
    • Stay vigilant; snakes are not actively seeking humans but may hide nearby.

    2. Actions if a Snake is Observed:
    • Stay calm and note the snake's location.
    • Cease all work in the area.
    • Do not approach, provoke, or attack the snake.
    • Notify the 2Construct Site Manager immediately.

    3. First Aid for Snake Bites:
    • Immobilize the affected limb as with a fracture and apply a firm bandage over the bite.
    • Keep the victim calm and the limb still.
    • Call for emergency transportation to medical care.
    • Do not:
    ○ Cut or excite the bite area.
    ○ Use an arterial tourniquet.
    ○ Wash the bitten area.

    Report incidents to the 2Construct Site Manager for assistance.
